let’s be clear

Ursa Born is a queer writer, editor, MFT student, and amateur naturalist from the great California North. She spends her time watching birds, staring at her garden with self-satisfied smugness, and teaching her daughters that we don’t fight unless we have to, but if we have to we fight HARD.

Clear, confident, creative, purposeful and productive communication is my fresh-baked baguette and grass-fed butter. I love to help turn ideas into reality. Let’s figure out what you have to say, and how to say it well!

  • Memoir Doula: Being a student pursuing my master’s degree in counseling psychology has allowed me to merge a natural curiosity for my fellow-humans’ journeys with passion for tending stories. Through a trauma-informed lens using narrative therapy techniques, I can help you birth ideas, projects, and creative endeavors into the world. Together we can consider what stories we are telling, how they serve us, how they may be hindering our growth, and how we can begin to write the life we want to live.

  • Writing: I’ve been doing this for decades! From avant-garde zine content and esoteric prose to copy and promotional materials, and now as a feature writer for Sonoma County’s Made Local Magazine, I’ve covered a lot of ground with my writing, helping folks from a wide variety of industries tell their stories.

  • Editing: From line and copy-edits to more intensive developmental work, I adore the process of polishing pieces of writing and revealing their inherent luminosity and luster, all while staying true to the writer’s unique voice. Everyone needs an editor — even (especially) editors!
